The stinging eel catfish is an elongated fish known for its stinging spines. It inhabits estuaries and coastal waters and can enter freshwater. This species feeds mainly on bottom-dwelling invertebrates.

Where they live

Found in estuaries, along open coasts, and in freshwater rivers of South Africa. Occurs in salt, brackish, and freshwater environments across parts of Africa.
