The Splitnose rockfish is a saltwater gamefish found mainly in the Pacific waters of North America. It has a fusiform body shape and can reach up to 46 cm in length. This species inhabits low-relief mud fields near rocky or shell debris and moves to deeper waters as it matures.

Found in Pacific North American saltwater, typically on low-relief mud bottoms near isolated rocks, cobbles, or shell debris from shallow to deep waters up to 800 meters.
