The smalltooth sand tiger is a large, predatory shark found mainly near the ocean floor. It has a sturdy body and is known for its fierce hunting of squid, small fish, and crustaceans. This shark inhabits deep offshore areas and continental shelves, sometimes venturing into shallower waters.

Where they live

Occurs near the bottom of continental shelves and upper slopes at depths of 13 to 420 meters, mainly in the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean regions. It is benthopelagic and associated with deep offshore nursery areas.
