The Singida tilapia is a freshwater fish from Africa, known for its fusiform body shape and tolerance to low oxygen conditions. It feeds by filtering plankton and can be found in sheltered, soft-mud areas of lakes. This species is not commonly targeted as a game fish.
Where they live
Found in freshwater lakes of Africa, especially in sheltered bays and gulfs with soft, algal mud bottoms, typically at depths less than 13 meters. Tolerant of low oxygen and high carbon dioxide levels.
