Silver carp are freshwater fish known for their fast growth and tendency to jump when disturbed. They are filter feeders that graze on microscopic algae and plankton. Widely distributed, they are often farmed in rice fields and can reach up to 1.2 meters in length.

Silver carp inhabit freshwater and brackish waters across North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania, commonly found in shallow to mid-depth areas up to 20 meters deep. They are often farmed in rice fields.
