The Sawfin is an elongated freshwater fish found in Africa, known for its significance as a game fish. It inhabits deep pools and runs in rivers, with juveniles common in smaller tributaries. The species feeds variably on insects, invertebrates, algae, and detritus, mostly near the bottom.

Where they live

Found in African freshwater systems, Sawfin prefer deep pools and river runs, as well as impounded waters; young fish inhabit smaller tributaries. They breed in summer in pools below waterfalls and rapids.
