The sand diver, also known as lizardfish, is a predatory fish with a slender, elongated body. It is a game fish prized for its distinctive hunting behavior on sandy bottoms. Sand divers are often found near reefs and boulders where they ambush prey.

Where they live

Inhabits sandy bottoms around boulders and sandy corridors in patch reefs across the Atlantic, Pacific, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico. Typically found from shallow waters around 3 meters to depths of 320 meters, but uncommon near shorelines.

Up to about 46 cm
