The saffron cod is a small, coastal fish found mainly in shallow waters and tidal rivers. It moves seasonally, spawning inshore during winter and feeding offshore in summer. This species is an opportunistic feeder, preying on small fish and crustaceans.
Where they live
Found in shallow coastal waters and tidal rivers across the North Pacific, including parts of North America, Asia, and Europe. They inhabit freshwater, brackish, and saltwater environments up to 300 meters deep.
