The Patagonian toothfish is a large, deepwater predator known for its impressive size and solitary nature. Juveniles are semi-pelagic while adults inhabit deep ocean floors, often below 1,000 meters. It is also commonly marketed as Chilean sea bass in seafood markets.
Where they live
Found in cold southern ocean waters across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Juveniles live at depths of 150 to 400 meters, while adults dwell deeper than 1,000 meters on the seafloor.
