The meagre is a large predatory fish known for its voracious appetite and robust size, reaching up to 2.3 meters in length. It inhabits moderate depths over sandy and rocky seabeds and is a popular game fish. Meagre aggressively feed on schools of small fish and shrimp species.

Where they live

Found in brackish and saltwater environments across the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean, typically at depths from 15 to 300 meters over sand and rocks.
