The Longray fangjaw is a small, elongated mesopelagic fish known for its size stratification by depth, with larger individuals inhabiting deeper waters. It exhibits diel color changes, becoming darker at night. This species mainly feeds on zooplankton, using selective plankton feeding techniques.

Where they live

Inhabits mesopelagic zones of the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico, typically found between 100 and 1200 meters deep.
