The Leerfish is a strong, predatory game fish found in coastal and estuarine waters around Africa and parts of the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean. It has a streamlined, fusiform body built for fast hunting. Juveniles feed mainly on crustaceans, while adults prey on smaller fish species.
Where they live
Found in shallow coastal and estuarine waters up to 50 meters deep, including occasional river lower reaches, across Africa, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean regions.
