The Indo-Pacific tarpon is a large, elongated fish known for its powerful fight and presence in diverse water types. Juveniles inhabit sheltered areas like mangroves and river mouths, while adults are mostly found in the open sea. This species is a top predator, feeding primarily on smaller fish and insects.
Where they live
Found across fresh, brackish, and saltwater habitats in Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Juveniles occupy estuaries and mangroves; adults inhabit coastal seas up to 50 meters deep.
