The halfmoon grouper is a reef-associated fish found in shallow to moderately deep waters. It is a sedentary predator that feeds on small fishes and crustaceans. This species is commonly caught near coral reefs and rocky areas.
Where they live
Inhabits coral reefs, rocky bottoms, algal flats, and seagrass beds from 1 to 150 meters deep in saltwater regions across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Often caught inshore using handlines from cliffs and reefs.
