The Giant hawkfish is a solitary, bottom-dwelling predator found resting on rocky ledges. It uses its excellent camouflage to ambush prey such as crustaceans and small fishes. This species can grow up to 60 cm and is prized by anglers in saltwater Pacific regions.

Where they live

Found in shallow to moderately deep saltwater (5-23 meters) around rocky substrates in the Pacific regions near North America. Prefers to lie still on rocks where it blends into its surroundings.
