The flowery flounder is a flatfish known for its striking appearance and ability to camouflage on sandy and rocky reefs. It hunts primarily at night, preying on small reef fish and macrofauna. This species is found in shallow tropical waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
Where they live
Found on sandy bottoms of coastal coral reefs in shallow waters from about 3 to 150 meters deep. Often seen crawling over low rocky reefs and sometimes resting on bare rock.
