Bothus ocellatus

The eyed flounder is a small flatfish known for its distinctive eye markings and ability to blend into sandy and coral rubble habitats. It feeds mainly on small fishes and various crustaceans, using its camouflage to ambush prey. This species is found in shallow coastal waters near reefs and seagrass beds.
Where they live
Found in shallow coastal waters up to 110 meters deep, typically over sandy bottoms with coral rubble and seagrass near patch reefs in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico.
