The European eel is an eel-like fish found in fresh, brackish, and saltwater across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Known for its snake-like body, it has a fascinating life cycle including long migrations. It feeds mainly at night using its keen sense of smell and taste to hunt or scavenge.
Where they live
Inhabits a wide range of waters from shallow freshwater rivers to deep estuaries and coastal areas, often found down to 700 meters depth. Found throughout Europe, parts of Africa, and Asia in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater environments.
