The eelpout is an elongated fish found in brackish and saltwater environments along the Atlantic. It is known for hunting various small marine creatures and can grow up to about half a meter in length. This species is not considered a game fish but is an interesting catch for anglers exploring shallow to moderately deep waters.

Eelpouts inhabit brackish and saltwater along Atlantic coasts, typically from the shore down to 40 meters deep. They prefer environments where they can hunt benthic macrofauna.
