The Cubera snapper is a large, powerful predator found mainly around rocky ledges and reefs. It is known for its cautious behavior and strong fight, making it a prized game fish. Juveniles often inhabit mangrove areas before moving offshore as adults.
Where they live
Found in warm brackish and saltwater from the Caribbean to the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic coasts of North America. Prefers rocky bottoms, ledges, and reefs at depths between 18 and 70 meters. Juveniles may occupy mangroves.
