The common guitarfish is a distinctive elongated fish found in both brackish and saltwater environments. It is a predator that hunts various small marine animals. Although not a game fish, it can grow quite large, reaching up to 185 cm in length.

Inhabits shallow to moderate depths up to 100 meters in brackish and saltwater regions, particularly in the Atlantic and Mediterranean seas.
