The butterfly ray is a large, flat-bodied ray found in warm saltwaters. It is known for its diamond-shaped body and is a predator that hunts fish and zoobenthos. It can grow up to 2.5 meters long and is considered a game fish.

Where they live

Found in shallow to moderately deep coastal waters (20-100 m) in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans around Africa. Inhabits saltwater environments near the sea floor.
