The Brown ray is a medium-sized skate known for inhabiting soft-bottom areas of continental shelves and upper slopes. It is a predator feeding on a variety of fish, squids, and bottom-dwelling animals. Anglers value it as a game fish for its unique appearance and habitat.
Where they live
Lives over soft sediment bottoms on continental shelves and upper slopes at depths between 17 and 300 meters, occasionally found down to 462 meters in some regions. Found in brackish and saltwater environments across the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean.
