The Black lantern fish is a small, elongated deep-sea fish found primarily in the Pacific Ocean. It inhabits the mesopelagic zone, moving vertically between depths of about 100 to 1000 meters depending on the time of day. This species feeds selectively on small planktonic crustaceans.

Where they live

Inhabits mesopelagic depths of 100 to 1000 meters at night and 640 to 900 meters during the day in Pacific saltwater environments.
