The Atlantic sabretooth anchovy is a small predatory fish found in estuaries and coastal waters, sometimes venturing into freshwater. It forms moderate schools and feeds on a variety of fishes, crustaceans, and zooplankton. This species reaches up to about 23.5 cm in length and is not considered a game fish.
Where they live
Found in brackish estuaries and nearby marine areas in the Atlantic region, including North and South America; it may also occur in freshwater lakes. Typically inhabits shallow to moderately deep waters up to 40 meters.
